The 5th Anniversary All-Russian Tournament in Traditional Archery "Tugan Batyr"
On August 1, 2026, the 5th Anniversary All-Russian Traditional Archery Tournament "Tugan Batyr" will be held in the Yelabuga Settlement. The "Tugan Batyr" tournament is a unique sports and cultural project aimed at preserving and promoting traditional archery, the historical heritage, and national cultural traditions of the peoples of Russia. The competition was first held in 2022 and has quickly become one of the most significant events in traditional sports.

Tournament Organizers:
  • Tugan Avylym National Tourist Complex (Kazan);
  • Mukhtasibat of Yelabuga and Yelabuga District, Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan;
  • Administration of Yelabuga and Yelabuga Municipal District;
  • Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve;
  • MAKSAT (Yelabuga);
  • Archery Federation of the Russian Federation;
  • Anti-Terrorism Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan.
We expect a wide geographic range of participants for the anniversary tournament in 2026. The tournament will bring together athletes from various regions of Russia, including Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, Dagestan, the Astrakhan and Samara regions, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. Representatives from foreign countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey, traditionally also show interest in the competition. The scale of the event expands annually, strengthening the tournament's status as one of the largest venues for the development and popularization of traditional archery in Russia.

The competition will traditionally be held at the Yelabuga settlement, one of the most famous historical monuments in Tatarstan. Its grounds house a unique 10th-century architectural landmark—the surviving portion of an ancient Bolgar mosque. The historical atmosphere of this site imbues the tournament with special significance, creating a connection between modern sport and the centuries-old traditions of our ancestors.
