On August 1, 2026, the 5th All-Russian Traditional Archery Tournament "Tugan Batyr" was held in Yelabuga. The competition was held at the Yelabuga Fortress, one of Tatarstan's most famous historical monuments. Its grounds house a unique 10th-century architectural landmark—the surviving portion of an ancient Bolgar mosque. Men and women over 16 participated in the tournament, along with separate competitions for children aged 10 to 15 from Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, the Astrakhan and Ulyanovsk regions, and Turkey. The adult tournament program included seven stages. Archers competed in shooting at a dragon target, from a kneeling position, from a loophole, 3D shooting, classic shooting, and speed shooting. A separate stage included shooting at a jamba target. For children, the program included four disciplines: classic standing, speed and kneeling, and jumbos. The event was organized by the National Tourist Complex “Tugan Avylym”, Mukhtasibat of the city of Elabuga and the Elabuga district of the Republic of Moldova, the administration of the city and district, the Elabuga State Museum-Reserve, the ANO “Mergen Uksy” (Republic of Bashkortostan), the sports club “MAKSAT” (Elabuga), the Anti-Terrorism Commission in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Shooting Federation from the bow of the Russian Federation. Radik Mukharlyamovich is the founder of the Tugan Batyr project.

Radik Abdrakhmanov, founder of the Tugan Batyr project, said: "We would like this event to develop and become an ethnofestival, attracting guests from all over the world. Tugan Batyr has many facets: a performance currently running at the new Kamala Theater in Kazan; Tournaments and festivals; as well as a cartoon, released on all federal platforms—a fairy tale written by our national writer and playwright Zulfat Hakim.
